Models with and without the genetic risk score (GRS) were compared using the log likelihood ratio Chi-squared test and AUCs. Multiplicative interaction between genetic and environmental risk factors was assessed via logistic regression within and across ancestral groups. Interactions were assessed for the GRS and its 62 constituent variants. Results: The models including environmental risk factors only had pseudo R2 values of 16.5–28.3% and AUC of 0.75–0.83. Incorporating a genetic score aggregating 62 T2D-associated risk variants significantly increased the model fit (likelihood ratio P-value of 2.50 × 10−4–4.83 × 10−12) and increased the pseudo R2 by about 1–2% and AUC by 1–3%. None of the gene–environment interactions reached significance after multiple testing adjustment, either for the GRS or individual variants. For individual variants, 33 out of 310 tested associations showed nominal statistical significance with 0.001 < P < 0.05. Conclusion: This study suggests that known genetic risk variants contribute a significant but small amount to overall T2D risk variation in Malaysian population groups. If gene–environment interactions involving common genetic variants exist, they are likely of small effect, requiring substantially larger samples for detection.]]> Wed 23 Feb 2022 16:06:27 AEDT ]]> Cardiovascular risk assessment among rural population: findings from a cohort study in a peripheral region of Bangladesh https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:25616 Wed 17 Nov 2021 16:28:15 AEDT ]]> Inequality in utilization of cesarean delivery in Bangladesh: a decomposition analysis using nationally representative data https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:47652 Wed 13 Mar 2024 18:29:58 AEDT ]]> Hirayama, passive smoking and lung cancer: 30 years on and the numbers still don't lie https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:15713 Wed 11 Apr 2018 14:24:52 AEST ]]> COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and hesitancy among patients with cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:51989 Tue 26 Sep 2023 10:53:45 AEST ]]> Mothers and teenage daughters walking to health: using the behaviour change wheel to develop an intervention to improve adolescent girls' physical activity https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:43292 Thu 15 Sep 2022 12:44:25 AEST ]]> Economic evaluations of public health implementation-interventions: a systematic review and guideline for practice https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38650 Thu 09 Dec 2021 11:39:22 AEDT ]]> Workplace tobacco control: the nexus of public and occupational health https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:7927 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:41:40 AEDT ]]> Public health centres in contemporary Japan (commentary) https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:7028 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:37:54 AEDT ]]> The use of traditional, complementary and alternative medicine in Sri Lankan cancer care: results from a survey of 500 cancer patients https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:9524 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:35:32 AEDT ]]> Prevention and surveillance of public health risks during extended mass gatherings in rural areas: The experience of the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Australia https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:20039 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:50:55 AEDT ]]> The determinants of essential newborn care for home births in Bangladesh https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:29161 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:35:42 AEDT ]]> The HIVE: a co-created art installation about health https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:43445 Mon 19 Sep 2022 14:44:27 AEST ]]> Older adults preferences for long-term caregivers in China: a discrete choice experiment https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:55385 Fri 24 May 2024 10:35:35 AEST ]]> Factors associated with the health care cost in older Australian women with arthritis: an application of the Andersen's Behavioural Model of Health Services Use https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:24367 Fri 22 Apr 2022 10:19:59 AEST ]]> Adapting implementation strategies: a case study of how to support implementation of healthy canteen policies https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:35885 Fri 10 Jan 2020 12:43:42 AEDT ]]> Giri-nya-la-nha (Talk Together) to explore acceptability of targeted smoking cessation resources with Australian Aboriginal women https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:36382 Fri 03 Apr 2020 15:56:33 AEDT ]]>
